HR Photography Israël photos and Jewish holidays...
Jewish holidays are celebrated by the Jewish people around the world . They are the "landmarks" by which jews punctuate the year.
Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of the jewish year commemorating the creation of the mankind. On Rosh Hashanah we proclaim the Kingship of God and our commitment to serve Him. As on the first Rosh Hashanah when God created the world, each year He reviews His creation, examines the quality of the bonds by which we unite with Him, and determines the nature of His relationship with us for the coming year.
Yom Kippur ten days after Rosh Hachanah, is the day of "great forgiveness" and "contrition" in order to be purified of the mistakes committed.
On this day, we pray for forgiveness.
Then follows the religious holiday of Sukkot where we commemorate the exodus from Egypt. After leaving Egypt, our ancestors lived in the desert 40 years before entering in the Promised Land. During this time they lived in small shelters, huts or tents. In order to remember this time,
we celebrate Sukkot by building a cabin.
Simhat Torah “the joy of Torah” is the completion of a month wich has enriched all dimensions of our person. This religious holiday closes the month of Tishrei. We stood in front of the Master of the world with fear and we have accepted His sovereignty. We have received His forgiveness and we have been purified. This is why the day of Sim‘hat Torah is a day of joy, enthusiasm, songs and dances.
Chanukah begins the 25th Kislev in the Jewish calendar and commemorates the victory of the Jews over the Greeks: the military victory of the small Jewish nation against the strong Greek army and the spiritual victory of the jewish faith over Hellenism.
Tu Bishvat takes place on the fifteenth day of the month of Shevat. It commemorates the "new year of the trees".
Purim falls on the 14th of the month of Adar in the beginning of spring. Purim commemorates the liberation of Jews who were threatened of extermination in the Persian Empire of Ahasuerus.
Passover falls on 15 Nissan and commemorates the liberation of the Jewish people from slavery. This holiday also commemorates the advent of the Jewish people after the donation of Torah on the Mount Sinai.
Shavuot, falls on the 6th Sivan. On this holy day we renew our acceptance of this divine donation, which is the Torah.
