HR Photography Israël event photographer to enlight Tu Bishvat holiday...

Tu Bishvat falls on the 15th  of Shevat in the Jewish calendar. This holiday is also known as the "New Year of the Trees".

According to Torah, there is a seven-year agricultural cycle wich ends with a sabbatical year : the Chemitah. When the Holy Temple stood in Jerusalem, in the first, second, fourth, and fifth years of this cycle, the farmers had to take off a second tithe of their crop and consume it in Jerusalem.
This tithe is called "Maasser Sheni" : "second tithe", because it is in addition to the two percent that is  given to Cohen and to the ten percent that is given to Levi.
In the third and sixth years of the cycle, the second tithe is given to the poor who could consume it wherever they want. Also, during the sabbatical year, no tithe is taken.
All the products of the earth wich grow this year are ownerless and anyone can take them.

Although this day is a "New Year of the Trees", we give it great significance  because man is compared to a "tree of the field".
Thus, by cultivating the deep roots of our faith in God and by commiting to his Ways, we produce many fruits called: "Torah and Mitzvot".

On this day of Tu Bishvat it is custom to consume fruits and in particular the 7 fruits of Israel: olive, date, grape, fig, pomegranate, barley, wheat.
Also during  Tu Bishvat, we omit the Ta'hanoun (asking for forgiveness for our faults and confessions) from the prayers.
